A collective fabric of belonging
Romanian threads.
A Minnesota home.
More than 120 cross-stitched patches, made by friends and members of the local Romanian community, come together through the American tradition of quiltmaking.
The green tree is made from traditional belt fabric, bete. Beneath the embroidery lies black wool woven in the Muscel region of Romania—the cloth used for the wraparound skirt known as a fotă.
